Job Summary of the Controls Algorithm Engineer - Electric Power Steering:
A Controls Algorithm Engineer with steering, motor or other automotive controls experience is required to play a vital role in the design, development and testing of control algorithms for Electric Power Steering and to improve the vehicle performance for one of our clients in Michigan. This client is a well-known brand and supplies OEM parts across the globe. If you have hands-on experience with steering, motor or other Automotive controls along with the Vector Tools, then this position is well suited to you.

Responsibilities of the Controls Algorithm Engineer - Electric Power Steering:
  • Design and validate control algorithms for electric power steering systems
  • Create algorithm or controller models using Matlab and Simulink
  • Run simulations to analyze controller performance
  • Provide support in-vehicle testing of new algorithms
  • Learn thoroughly about affecting subjective steering feel
  • Gain knowledge about how steering controls influence dynamic vehicle performance
  • Develop data analysis tools using Matlab and prepare project reports and documentation
  • Customize new projects as per the needs of the customers
  • Collaborate with the customer and teams working from different locations

Qualifications of the Controls Algorithm Engineer - Electric Power Steering: 
  • BS or MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Controls specialization is preferred
  • 2+ years of steering controls or 8+ years of motor or other automotive controls experience.
  • Experience in designing and analyzing automotive components using CAE tools such as Matlab and Simulink
  • Good understanding of modern and classical control theory and automotive systems which includes power steering, suspension, steering kinematics, vehicle dynamics, etc.
  • Previous experience with modeling and simulation of electro-mechanical systems
  • Vector Tools ( CANape) experience.
  • Skilled in applying control concepts to real world systems
  • Steering control development experience is preferred
  • Experience in vehicle ride-and-handling evaluation is preferred

Salary Range:  $80,000-110,000/year, depending on experience

Location: Plymouth, MI
Type:  Direct
Travel:  Travel to Korea may be required to support the EPS development
Relocation Assistance:  Subject to Review
Visa Sponsorship:  H1B transfers only (with 3+ years remaining). NO OPT/F1 will be considered
