This is an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer. This person will work primarily on projects requiring process control and system integration expertise.  This position requires a motivated, decisive individual with the ability to work within schedule and budget constraints with minimal supervision while in the office or traveling.  The ideal candidate can work well in project teams and can communicate applicable concepts and ideas to customers, suppliers and engineering and commissioning personnel.  Applicant must be willing and able to travel domestically and abroad, mostly to Asia, Mexico, Europe and South America.  He/she will represent the company's interests related to electrical, controls and automation throughout the life cycle of a project, proposal to final acceptance.
 
Specific Responsibilities Include:
 
You will use your technical knowledge to plan and implement control systems capable of reliably operating continuous processes.Some key responsibilities are:
  • Specification and selection of commercial electrical components
  • Perform engineering calculations to size process equipment such as motor control centers, I/O cabinets, cable dimensions, bus bars, control networks and cooling systems.
  • Produce technical specifications to purchase equipment and services
  • Design system architecture, develop equipment layout, produce single line, cable routing and detail design of control systems
  • Prepare motor and instrument lists
  • Prepare system functional description from P&ID
  • Assist the Purchasing department in the selection and qualification of sub suppliers
  • Technical review of sub suppliers’ quotation to ensure proper interface and performance with the process
  • Direct and oversee engineering work sub-contracted to outside design firms
  • Develop and maintain a detailed schedule to complete project process controls
  • Technical presentation and participation in design reviews to the end user of company’s engineered systems
  • Provide pre-sales technical assistance
  • Review customer specifications to assure compliance and/or noted exceptions for development of equipment and service quotations
  • Review the requirements of the customer (RFQ) to determine the most effective solution related to the company's portion of the project to achieve the end user’s objectives
  • Liaise with other members of the sales and project execution teams related to system control
  • Provide electrical/control support for R&D programs and services teams
  • Develop electrical engineering, installation, test and commissioning procedures and work scopes
General Requirements:
 
  • Technical knowledge including formal training at an accredited college or university.
  • Ability to take “ownership” of the work assigned and make decisions.

  • Must be disciplined and deadline oriented.
  • Able to manage priorities and work independently.
  • Able to manage several projects and work in a fast-paced environment with tight schedules and deadlines is a must.
  • Able to work collaboratively with employees of all levels within the organization.
  • Available to travel domestically and internationally, when required.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team-based environment is a necessity.
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, BSEE
  • 7-12 years’ experience as an Electrical or Controls Engineer involving industrial chemical or mechanical processes involving liquid and solids storage, process control and instrumentation
  • Hands on experience in the start-up and commissioning of large integrated systems
  • Experience with industrial drive systems, HMI systems, Level II architecture and communication systems
  • Moderate to Extensive PC skills with VISIO and AutoCAD 2018. Experience with AutoDesk P&ID, EPlan, PLC programming software and Microsoft Project
  • Extensive experience and proficiency with MS Office Suite 2016 and Windows 10
