Your Role with the Company:
The objective of this position is to maximize the company’s capital investment dollars by negotiating the lowest cost, by eliminating stage payments and by maximizing payment terms while delivering a high level of quality and service to our internal external customers.
What you will be doing:
Manage the majority of the overall Capital Equipment procurement process including giving direction to corporate engineering staff on competitive bidding events, skilled labor force contracts, and turnkey projects major and minor projects. Working with Engineering, Operations and plants to ensure Capital purchases are coordinated for maximum savings and at minimum the following:
Negotiation of major capital projects (e.g. Furnace rebuilds, Cold End Projects, Installation of machines, Abatement Systems, all major installations regardless of plant area, rolling stock, emissions monitoring equipment and service agreements.
Analyzing of market segments and introducing new suppliers as appropriate
Oversees and ensures that Supplemental Terms and Conditions, payment terms, that are input into any contract, PO, etc. are in the best interest of the company to the greatest extent possible. Requires ongoing negotiations with suppliers and significant interaction with our legal department.
Oversees and ensures that performance guarantees and Company expectations are understood and agreed upon in writing prior to purchase. Requires ongoing coordination between operations, engineering, sales, etc.
Focus on safety and maintaining all contractors hired by the Company and working at, on or sites supply the appropriate insurance required.
Continuous and open dialog with Executive Management to ensure Procurement involvement with all Capital Projects.
Daily managing of Purchase requisitions submitted by Corporate Engineering, as well as other disciplines at the Corporate office. Processing of orders to suppliers and communication sometimes several times per day.
Reviewing CAR’s submitted through the system to be sure they meet Procurement minimal requirement for submittal. CAR’s can come from the plants, or Corporate.
Reviewing orders over 100k from plant sites. Evaluation and determination on level of involvement by the plant or managing from the corporate office. Might require full blown RFP to capture possibly country requirement, not just site requirement.
What you will need:
BS Degree Business / Engineering / Supply Chain. CPM is a plus.
Mechanical and electrical aptitude experience a plus.
3-5 years related field experience of 5-8 years of Procurement / Engineering or Supply Chain Experience.
Department Plant Manager (technical) / Management Experience a plus.
Thorough understanding of contractual terms and conditions and Environmental Health and Safety requirements.
Strong general computer skills, knowledge of SAP, etc. Order processing, procedures.
Negotiation skills a plus.
