Reviews, assesses, and documents customer needs and designs products accordingly. Identifies and assigns work for his/herselfas well as the CAD Designers. Ensures that all work assignments are completed efficiently, effectively, consistently and incompliance with company capabilities and policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reviews and documents customer requirements and designs products in compliance with stated requirements, focusing on ease of manufacturing with high reliability.
Schedules, conducts, and documents design review meetings.
Monitors and reports status of design assignments.
Assigns work to CAD Designer(s) ensuring deadlines are set and met.
Reviews quotes for engineering notes and technical accuracy.
Checks and/ or approves engineering drawings, parts lists, and test sheets
Ensures all ECNs are processed efficiently, effectively, and consistently.
Ensures all booked orders have complete documentation 3 weeks after receipt of order for standard designs.
Notifies the Engineering Manager of any non-conformity within the engineering system.
Corresponds with customers and suppliers as needed to ensure customer satisfaction is maintained
Assigns and monitors work assignments to CAD Designer(s). Publishes and reports the status of these assignments to the Engineering Manager.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelors of Applied Sciences degree with Mechanical or Electrical Engineering as the major with emphasis on design or a minimum of three years of employment experience with the primary responsibilities inclusive of mechanical design, contract review, project management, and manufacturing engineering.
Ability to read, speak, and write English in a professional manner and make effective presentations to management or other groups.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute percentages, ratios and other relevant comparisons and to interpret and create graphs.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to analyze mechanical assemblies and designs to define possible results and relationships.
Specific Job Skills, Specialized Knowledge or Certifications
Ability to create mechanical designs for manufacturing as related to business information and spreadsheets.
Personal desktop or laptop computer with MS Office software and Company's ERP system. CAD systems in Solid Modeling, 3D and 2D applications as needed to provide sufficient design output.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularlyrequired to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear; use hands to type/writeand arms to reach. Will normally lift 5-10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required bythis job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
