Electrical Group Leader for our St. Paul, MN location. This is a leadership role and is accountable for the technical and operational performance, financial performance, and growth of the Electrical Engineering department within the Midwest Region. He/she carries out these responsibilities by providing leadership in four “Focus Areas” -- Product Delivery; Staff Development; Financial Management and Sales.

 

For each of the four Focus Areas, the position demands close collaboration with others at all levels of the organization, as described in italics at the end of each Focus Area description.

 

Responsibilities:

Focus Areas

Product Delivery

  • Assign and monitor the performance of technical resources within the Group
  • Coordinate resource availability with contract backlog; borrow or loan resources as required to ensure a balance of resources and backlog
  • Manage the total flow of work through the Group’s workforce, ensuring compliance with client expectations of cost, schedule, and quality
  • Support, ensure the application of, and provide for improvements to, corporate technical standards
  • Develop, maintain, and apply rigorous program of quality assurance and quality control; be responsible for quality breaches; perform project post-mortems; design and apply corrective actions as required Success in this Focus Area demands collaboration and cooperation with RBUL; Project Management and Practice Development Leaders.

Staff Development.

  • Participate in the development of annual hiring plan as part of annual budgeting process
  • Participate in Group hiring requisition process
  • Assist with requisition development
  • Participate in interviewing and candidate selection process
  • Review and approve offer criteria
  • Assist with the onboarding of new employees
  • Develop staff resources in support of the requirements of the Function, Discipline, Service Lines and/or Market Sectors
  • Set and Manage Group Goals in support of Regional and Corp Goals
  • Manager resources to ensure Group goals are achieved.
  • Train, motivate, and provide mentoring and professional development for Group staff
  • Act as an advocate
  • Manage individual employee performance review process for Group staff
  • Conduct annual and interim performance reviews
  • Monitor and assess progress toward performance goals
  • Provide ongoing constructive feedback on individual performance
  • Provide recommendations for annual compensation adjustments
  • Provide corrective programs up to and including termination as required to maintain desired organizational standards Success in this Focus Area demands collaboration and cooperation with RBUL; Corporate Human Resources; and Practice Development Leaders.


Financial Management

 

  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of timesheets by Group staff.
  • Ensure monthly compliance with budget values for individual and group utilization
  • Monitor progress of projects within the Group

    Assist Project Managers in assessing progress of the Work Success in this Focus Area demands collaboration and cooperation with RBUL; Corporate Finance; and Practice Development Leaders; Monitor project opportunities for the assigned Group

  • Monitor Go/No Go deliberations for Group opportunities, participate as appropriate
  • Participate in proposal preparation, as appropriate
  • Participate in consultant selection interview preparation and rehearsals
  • Participate in inter-geography pursuits as appropriate
  • Monitor sales goal compliance

Qualifications:

Experience

  • Ten years total experience in the technical consulting field, such as engineering, construction management, facilities management, architecture, sustainability, commissioning, or related field; one to three years in a management and leadership role.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the above-mentioned fields, or a combination of a Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated competency in one of the above-mentioned fields; master’s degree preferred.

 

Professional Standing

  • Certified or registered for professional field in which qualified, such as professional engineer registration, registered architect, LEED AP with specialty, etc.
