Seeking a driven, hands-on Project Engineer to be involved in all aspects of product development, manufacturing processes and quality assurance for a successful and growing manufacturing company.  The Project Engineer will balance time between the shop floor, development lab, and the computer.  This diverse, high-profile role requires strong mechanical aptitude, combined with the ability to critically analyze and implement solutions.
Responsibilities include:
  • Direct R&D activities including prototype building, new design performance testing, and agency approvals.
  • Project management of technical studies, new product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and product testing.
  • Sketch rough layouts and compute angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages and location of holes.
  • Create engineering drawings, specifications, and related data to determine manufacturability.
  • Manage the ECO process: evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
  • Provide production support to the machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly areas; and audit parts during production to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Oversee the quality assurance process, evaluate field reports of quality issues, and facilitate corrective action.
  • Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Coordinate activities concerned with technical developments, troubleshooting, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Support the Purchasing Department in vendor selection and quality concern resolution.
  • Prepare interim and completion project reports.
  • 4-year degree in Engineering strongly preferred. Associates Degree in Engineering will be considered.
  • 3 – 5 years’ relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, and ability to grow beyond this role required. 
  • Must be proficient in CAD (Solidworks) designing and drawing parts, and utilizing Solidworks PDM. Strong MS Office skills also required.
