Our client is a world leader in laboratory equipment and services and has an opportunity for a Regional Sales Manager for one of its lines of analytical instrumentation used in R&D laboratories. The ideal candidate will be based in the Los Angeles area. The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for managing the sales representatives and the sales activities of specific analytical instrumentation product lines within the Western United States. The Regional Sales Manager also participates in sales activities for the entire USA such as conferences and seminars. This position reports to the Regional Vice President.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Leads and manages the sales team in building sales within the Western Region.
Manages all aspects of the assigned territory, e.g., developing Sales Representatives, increasing sales, developing and managing customer relationships, conducting product demos, installations and customer training.
Identifies and monitors key accounts.
Manages P&L for assigned product lines within the Western Region. Reviews expense reports. Monitors expenses vs. budget.
Acquires and maintains a comprehensive knowledge of all Rheology, Indentation Testers, Scratch Testers and Particle Characterization product lines by attending in-house technical training courses and manufacturer training at parent company.
Participates in technical/professional organizations or networking groups, attends trade shows and/or conferences to obtain leads.
Prepares sales presentations to explain instrumentation capabilities. Demonstrates instruments to potential customers.
Works with headquarters on requests for quotations (RFQs). Negotiates prices and terms of sales agreements up to the allowed discount level by product line.
Relays niche opportunities for key or special accounts to appropriate counterparts.
Prepares weekly reports for Director - Sales & Marketing on selling activities via proprietary CRM software.
50% overnight travel throughout North America.
The preferred candidate will possess a B.S. degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or similar technical field and experience in leading and managing a technical sales team selling into R&D Labs.
