Summary of the Resident Engineer Position:
Our client, a developer and supplier of advanced vehicle safety systems, is growing at a fast rate. Because of this, they’re looking for a Resident Engineer to support them in customer interface for specific vehicles and customization and launching of Airbag Control Modules. They are working with the latest and greatest innovations in the automotive field such as active safety, brake-by-wire, brake controls and automated driving. If you have experience in development and management of vehicle specific configuration files and their release, along with the ability to drive continuous improvements in the daily activities of the team, then this position is well suited to you. It's a good stepping stone to more advanced engineering positions within the company.
Responsibilities of the Resident Engineer:
Work with customer for specific vehicle customization and launching of Airbag Control Modules
Development and management of vehicle specific configuration files and their release
Provide support in crash tests, troubleshooting. data retrieval and analysis
Tracking of Material Required Dates (MRDs) for prototype parts to the customer
Help customers in prototype and production-launch builds, breadboard testing and system level tests when needed
Release updated part numbers and associated documentation such as drawings, ICD, assembly instructions, service, etc. using customer systems.
Develop and manage End Item BOMs, drawings and manufacturing plant PPAP processes.
Ensure the highest of quality deliveries to the customer
Collaborate with global team of Applications Engineers situated in multiple countries
Ensure proper flow of information between the teams and customer on daily basis
Manage change requests that impact responsible vehicle programs
Will be on-site at customers approximately four days a week
Qualifications of the Resident Engineer:
BS in Engineering (EE preferred)
MUST HAVE 1+ years of experience in the automotive industry (internships can count for this).
Any experience with Ford products and/or processes is a plus.
MUST be ready for occasional travel in USA, Canada and Mexico region.
Should have a car to travel within Detroit area (reimbursement will be provided)
Experience with electronics is preferred.
Compensation of the Resident Engineer:
Salary Range: $65,000-80,000/year, based on experience
Location: Detroit Area MI
Travel: YES, As required
Relocation Assistance: Subject to review
