Great opportunity for a solid engineer looking to take the next step in their career and join a growing team at this stable, fast growing company as a Train Control Engineer. The successful candidate will be working in the Washington DC metropolitan area. As part of the pre-construction estimating team in preparation of bids and proposals, this person will provide technical information to the project team to ensure that the work complies with all Railroad or Transit engineering standards, codes, specifications, design instruction and contract requirements while troubleshooting engineering related installation problems.
Processing submittals and RFI’s.
Development and maintenance of Signal/Rail specific database in company estimating software.
Develop and maintain working relationship with Signal companies and various Rail and Transit properties.
Develop Scope of Work documents for bids.
Identify value added solutions and participate in Key Project Review.
Work with field personnel as needed during installation.
Pricing, tracking and managing change orders.
Identifying change orders and ensuring effective resolution.
Maintaining as-builts drawings.
Documenting project issues/conditions.
Maintaining organized and detailed project records.
Submitting hours and cost codes.
Planning and executing project completion and punch list.
Preparing specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
Submitting O&M manuals.
Assisting in development of full estimate.
Managing coordination, detailing logs & schedule.
Managing schedule updates.
Identifying value added solutions & cost savings methods.
Instructing field personnel in proper Railroad/Transit installation procedures for various wayside equipments.
Understand relay and relay equivalent drawings (generated by computer language).
BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
Minimum of 5 years experience as a Train Control Engineer or Rail Systems Engineer.
For senior level, 15+ years of practical rail/signaling experience in various related positions.
Solid understanding of transit construction procedures and materials.
Knowledge of transit signal standards and construction methods unique to the trade.
The ability to read Track and Cable Plans.
Understanding of transit design processes.
Understanding of pre-written field test procedures and ability to develop field test procedures.
Software skills to include - Microsoft Office, Estimation Software, Oscilloscope, Multi-meter, Various Railroading hand tolls.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to obtain US Security Clearance.
Travel up to 25%.
