The Electrical Engineer supports our Resilient Flooring manufacturing operations, under the supervision of the Manager, Resilient Engineering. The position works closely with other staff engineers and is responsible for providing engineering and technical services to support the manufacturing equipment, maintenance systems, and production processes. In addition, this position plays a critical role in our lean efforts as we continuously strive to improve our processes and reduce waste. In our fast paced and dynamic manufacturing environments, you will take on and execute projects and studies of significant importance, scope, and complexity. This position is located in our Manufacturing Technical Support organization in Lancaster, PA. Travel to our plants throughout the U.S. is required, and will vary from single day to multiple week trips.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Proactively providing engineering and technical assistance to the manufacturing plants in term of equipment, maintenance, and production processes and systems.
- Actively participating, as a contributing member of the Leadership Team, in identifying and resolving common cause and special cause issues that impact plant reliability and performance.
- Investigating manufacturing problems in the plants and recommending corrective actions. This includes consulting with production personnel, analyzing the supporting data, recommending corrective actions, and following through on recommendations to evaluate their effectiveness.
- Developing preliminary concepts and budgetary capital estimates for new products, projects, and improvements.
- Assisting in and / or developing vendor bid packages and final vendor selection for purchased parts and services.
- Executing capital projects, ensuring cost, schedule, and performance goals are met or exceeded. This may vary from owning portions of a large project to sole ownership of a project.
- Applying Precision Maintenance concepts and principals.
- Educating plant personnel on engineering and technical issues to ensure their knowledge and understanding.
- Coordinating training and start up activities of new equipment and processes.
- Participating in Lean efforts, such as kaizen events, where an emphasis is placed on creativity before capital investment.
- Providing status updates on project progress and issues.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 - 10 years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated Project Management skills.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).
- PLC and HMI programming experience with Rockwell suite of products.
- Experience with Wonderware application programming and support.
Desired Qualifications and Skills
Experience with the following:
- Rockwells RSLogix 5, 500, and 5000 PLC software
- Rockwells RSView Studio ME and SE software
- AB PLC 5 and ControlLogix PLCs
- AB Panelview Plus series HMI’s
- AB PowerFlex AC variable speed drives
- AB Kinetic and Ultra 3000 Servo Drives
- AB DH+, DeviceNet, ControlNet, and Ethernet communications
- DataBase Systems i.e., SQL
- Tension control systems
- Web guiding control systems
- Registration control systems for printing and punch operations.
- Mixing and Batching operations
- Cognex Vision Systems
- Networked system design and configuration.
- 480 VAC power distribution design
- Previous experience with the application of Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing methodologies, Statistical Process Control and Team Facilitation.
